The film that started it all…
In 2022 Prime Video released A documentary called Wildcat to its platform. The reactions from millions of people from all over the world was incredible. The rawness and vulnerability that this documentary showcased was exactly what the world needed to see, leaning into mental health aspects as well as the power of nature.
The Protagonist of this incredible documentary, is also the president of Emerald Arch, Harry Turner.
Harry’s Journey
Harry spent 7 years in the Amazon rainforest of Peru, filming his time there while learning to understand his PTSD. With one tour of Afghanistan with the British Army, Harry struggled deeply and found peace in nature. Filming with no other reason than to record some incredible memories, He was able to capture moments with two orphaned Ocelotes that would have been impossible to get with a film crew. The two cats, Khan and Keanu became stars, stealing peoples hearts through the fantastic cinematography that Harry was able to shoot.
Its powerful message and beautiful scenes of these two beautiful wildcats was something that even the documentary and film world was impressed with and in 2023 it was nominated for 3 Emmys. Best editing, best music and outstanding nature documentary.
Walking away with the emmy for Outstanding Nature Documentary in New York, was a surreal feeling that will always hold a special place in our hearts and we hope that with this film to help showcase the love we have for nature, more people will want to help create safe spaces for wildlife in the plots of land that Emerald Arch are working towards buying.
